In the theoretical part, I focused on the definition, physiology of pain, its division, diagnosis, pain assessment, therapeutic procedures in pain management, factors affecting pain, the role of the general nurse in the treatment of patients with chronic pain, pain management centres and a general description of the quality of life and the specific quality of life of patients with chronic pain. The empirical part presents the results of a quantitative investigation in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire that focused on questions related to chronic pain and a standardized WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire that assessed overall quality of life and health status. In the theoretical part, basic information related to the issue of stomas is interpreted, the concept of quality of life and the specifics of nursing care in patients with intestinal stomia are defined. The empirical part focuses on the results of the quantitative questionnaire survey, for which the standardized WHOQOL - BREF questionnaire and the Stoma - QOL questionnaire were used. A total of 144 respondents with intestinal stoma participated in the survey. The quality of life of young unemployed people via WHOQOL - BREF survey

The presented diploma thesis in its theoretical part introduces the reader to the issue of the quality of life. This polysemantical term, which can be hardly defined, is based on a wide range of views and applicable approaches. The first chapter deals with the definition and description of basic and related concepts. The second part describes the instruments of social policy, employment policy and its division. The conclusion of the thesis offers an objective and subjective measures of the quality of life, which were applied to the author's examined districts, whose respondents were young unemployed within thirty years of age.
